WBC BUDGET CONSULTATION: 2010-2013
Warrington residents and businesses are being given the opportunity to have their say on the council’s spending proposals for the next three years.
Launching Warrington's annual budget consultation, council leader Cllr Ian Marks went online to give a direct message to local people about the challenges the council is facing in setting an affordable budget and to outline the proposals for savings and investments over a three-year period.
Cllr Marks said: “We have a funding gap of around £30m over the next three years and while we are committed to doing everything we can to make the council ever more efficient, the reality is that we are having to put forward proposals which may include scaling back or withdrawing some services. We have not, and will not, take any decisions until we have heard from the public about the services they want us to maintain so it’s really important that residents, businesses and communities take this chance to have their say.”
The budget proposals are published on the council website at www.warrington.gov.uk/budget2010 and the consultation document is also available in all council buildings.
ENYAN
ENYAN’s (English National Youth Arts Network) current National Campaign ‘What do YOU THink?. The campaign aims to clarify key issues surrounding youth consultation within youth arts and across the youth sector. ENYAN have been gathering case studies focusing on how individuals and organisations have used the arts to consult with, and involve young people in decision-making. These examples will be showcased on the ENYAN website and may also feature in the ENYAN Youth Consultation/Participation Toolkit which will be produced in the Autumn and widely disseminated to share examples of good practice.
There is an online survey for young people which focuses on their perspectives and experiences of consultation, what works, what doesn’t, what matters to them and what they think.
