Warrington Family Support Model - Consultation (ends 31 July 2010)

The Family Support Model has been introduced across Warrington from November 2006. Since this time, we have been able to learn from the experiences of practitioners, children, young people and families involved with family support. In order to put this learning into practice and to ensure that the Family Support Model can better inform service delivery, the following changes to family support paperwork have been suggested:

FSM01 - the addition of a "referred to" section - limited changes

FSM02 - more space for recording strengths and needs - condensed attendance/contact details sheet - improved statement for consent to share information

FSM03 - more space for recording strengths and needs - condensed attendance/contact details sheet - improved statement for consent to share information - improved guidance and space for reviewing actions from previous meetings

FSM04 - new form to close cases to family support.

The suggestions outlined above have come from frontline practitioners, including representatives from children's centres, inclusion services, housing, youth offending and voluntary sector services during a workshop held in February 2010. Changes to the forms have not been finalised so we would welcome your views on the proposals. Please take a moment to review the attached forms and consult with colleagues before getting back to us with your comments. This consultation will close on 31 July 2010. We would welcome any feedback and suggestions for further improvement.

WBC BUDGET CONSULTATION: 2010-2013

Warrington residents and businesses are being given the opportunity to have their say on the council’s spending proposals for the next three years.

Launching Warrington's annual budget consultation, council leader Cllr Ian Marks went online to give a direct message to local people about the challenges the council is facing in setting an affordable budget and to outline the proposals for savings and investments over a three-year period.

Cllr Marks said: “We have a funding gap of around £30m over the next three years and while we are committed to doing everything we can to make the council ever more efficient, the reality is that we are having to put forward proposals which may include scaling back or withdrawing some services. We have not, and will not, take any decisions until we have heard from the public about the services they want us to maintain so it’s really important that residents, businesses and communities take this chance to have their say.”

The budget proposals are published on the council website at www.warrington.gov.uk/budget2010 and the consultation document is also available in all council buildings.
